Industrial mechanical & piping engineering

Engineering support for pressure equipment, piping systems, and the decisions that keep industrial projects moving.

For facility owners, maintenance teams, and industrial contractors

A scope built around your project

Davis Engineering provides industrial mechanical engineering with experience rooted in heavy industry. We start with the equipment, operating conditions, available records, and the purpose of the work. Specifications, evaluation, new design, and repair planning require different inputs and should be clearly identified in the proposal.

Piping, pressure vessel & tank specifications

Specifications establish the agreed technical requirements for the equipment or system being procured or modified. Provide process and operating information, project criteria, and owner requirements so the scope can be defined. Vendor coordination and review responsibilities should be identified before the package is issued.

Pipe stress analysis

A piping evaluation requires relevant geometry, support information, operating conditions, and equipment connection data. Tell us whether the objective is new design, a modification, or an existing-system concern. Field verification and missing records may affect the analysis scope and schedule.

Pressure vessel & tank design

Pressure equipment work is scoped around the intended service, geometry, material information, governing design basis, and required deliverables. Share the available equipment documents and proposed operating conditions. Engineering design, fabrication, inspection, and acceptance responsibilities should be coordinated among the project parties.

Fitness for service (API 579)

Fitness-for-service work starts with the equipment records, operating history, and relevant inspection or measurement data. An assessment must be scoped to the specific condition and available information. Additional inspection or data collection may be required before an engineering conclusion can be developed.

Pressure equipment & tank repair plans

Repair planning addresses a defined condition and an agreed engineering scope. Provide prior inspection reports, photographs, measurements, and existing design information. The engineering documents do not replace the fabricator’s procedures, inspection work, or other responsibilities applicable to the repair.

What to send us

A few useful details help us discuss the engineering scope and provide a project-specific proposal.

  • Equipment identification and available design records
  • Operating conditions and proposed changes
  • Inspection reports, measurements, and relevant photographs
  • Required deliverable, owner criteria, and schedule

The proposal confirms the services, deliverables, fee, and schedule. Additional investigation, field visits, or revisions are identified separately when needed.

Common questions

Can you scope work without complete equipment records?

We can review the available information and identify what else is needed. Missing records may require field verification, inspection data, or a revised scope.

Does an engineering evaluation replace equipment inspection?

No. Engineering evaluation and inspection data collection are different activities. The required information and responsibilities should be established during scoping.

Can mechanical and structural work be coordinated?

Yes. If piping, equipment supports, foundations, or platforms interact, we can discuss a coordinated scope across the relevant disciplines.

Start with your project.

Send the location, available documents, and the decision you need to make. We will discuss the scope and next steps.
